I know most of you will have seen these images before, but I thought it would be good to catch this part of the forum up with what's been announced. This is the first tribe to have been sculpted by the very talented Bob Olley. Palaudis Chief Palaudis Tribe Members As usual, comments, questions and feedback are most welcome (although I think all the members so far have already done so on the blog ;D ) In the story background their skin ranges from dark brown, through olive green to a dark green. Their fur is like an emu's in colour - so a range of browns with some lighter flashes through it. EDIT: Here are the first painted samples using the background story paint scheme... And the Group Shot! But, the question is - what colour scheme do you see these guys in?

If I am able, I'd like to collect a 5-strong group of each of the occulite tribes, and I think I'd stick to the pretty basic color for these guys since they kind of seem like the baseline occulite that all other stocks are derived from. A good dark brown body with green limbs and eyestalk seems like the right way to go. I might come up with a basic insignia for my tribe and have that carved into or painted onto the bark shields.

Sounds cool Tom, I've tried to find a nice balance between being able to buy all the tribe sets comfortably and having enough money to stay afloat and keep the content and releases coming. So hopefully people will enjoy collecting all the tribes.
I must say it is very difficult to keep a lid on all the wonderful things I have planned for this setting...
I am picking up the painted samples of these guys on Friday (AUS time) and eagerly await how they look. I have asked the painter (Kosta - who sculpted up Eureka's frogs and turtles line, as well as a lot of their modern stuff) to paint up one set of the Palaudis tribe in "Background story" accurate colours and one set free range to demonstrate a completely different approach to the figures might look. I am also picking up a set of the Luftles painted up as well (in 'Background story' accurate colours).
So make sure you tune in on Friday night (AUS) for a preview before I place them up on my blog!
Cheers, Ben.

Very cool! I'm super-excited to see the first painted occulites, I'll be keeping an eye out for updates throughout the day.

I have updated the first post with painted pics (using the background story colour scheme), but I also asked Kosta to choose a 'free range' paint scheme and paint up a set however he liked to demonstrate that you could really paint them however you like. Here are the results - different, but cool. ;D So guys, what do you think? They paint up really well I think! Time to put a lick of paint on a set myself now I think... but not before trying to finish off the website this weekend... fingers crossed! Cheers, Ben.

I do like the natural tones of the fun and the bark. The purple are good too but my money iss on the more natural... if they have more solid feel (IMO)

Wow - looking great! I'm a little more partial to the "natural" color scheme too, maybe only because I've gotten used to the idea of them being that color though. The purple-yellow scheme is pretty out there, and could perhaps represent some Palaudis from a more tropical region?
Mine will probably look closer to the first, but perhaps with lighter green skin.
