The third set of figures sculpted by Bob was the Floris Tribe. The leaf detailing on these guys if fantastic! Floris Chief Floris Tribal Members And a group shot: The Floris tribe are dwellers of the forests, jungles and bush of the Rise of the Occulites setting. They are masters of camouflage and ambush, springing traps on unsuspecting creatures that wander into their territory. The Floris are big and brutish and are known for their savagery, launching themselves from hiding, swinging their makeshift flails. The Floris are truly a tribe to be feared. In the background story, the Floris are covered in leaves that match their surroundings, so can be anything from autumn reds and yellows, right through to deep greens. Their skin is usually a bright green, with their petals consisting of deep purples through to pinks. That being said, Darwin has seen a few tribes varied of colour - Floris tribes who use their colours not to hide, but to warn their enemies not to go near. What colours are you going to paint yours? EDIT: EDIT: Floris with Autumn Tones

These are the occulites I'm most excited for, and from the bit you've written up they sound like they'll be a lot of fun to play! For color scheme, I think I'll go more garrish than camouflaged, with bright green limbs and a red-fading-to-yellow petal/eyestalk. I'd kind of like mine to look like tropical flowers, something like this only in reverse (red at the edges, fading to yellow at the center): FlowerI might also give them a very dark blue fur to differentiate them from other occulites.

That will be a really fantastic colour scheme Tom! Can't wait to see how it looks once finished. It looks like I might wait until the Hydris get sent out to cast these guys up (which hopefully won't be too long). That way, both tribes will fit on one mould - which makes it easier for everyone involved I think (although will cause a slight delay to their availability sorry - but not much hopefully). I think the blue 'fur' could look really interesting. Just note that when you see these guys in the raw, they are actually covered in tiny little leaves (Bob has done a marvellous job of them), however, blue leaves aren't terribly unusual in the Occulite's jungles... Cheers, Ben.

That will be a really fantastic colour scheme Tom! Thanks! It looks good in my head, at least, we'll see how well that translates in reality. Sometimes my ambitions exceed my skill with the brush. That seems like a good move, and of course (like any good miniatures collector) I have a stack of models about 10 feet tall that need painting, so I'll have something to do while waiting Aha! Now that you point it out, I can see that they're leaves rather than fur. At first I thought they just had a much thicker, fluffier fur but I think I like the leaves better, because it further distinguishes them from the Palaudis tribe.

Thanks Giles. These and the Hydris will be added to the store when I receive the castings of them. Hydris are currently winging their way over from the UK. They should arrive sometime next week. If they arrive before Friday, I'll take them and the Floris down to Eureka and "hopefully" Nic can get them moulded and cast fairly soon. Then they will be added to the store. Cheers, Ben.

The more autumnal colors work really well for this tribe, I think I like them even better than the "official" colors becase you get a little more contrast. Overall it appears to work very well.
